(Waterloo, Iowa) — Officials with U.S. Rehab, a division of VGM & Associates, are proud to announce a partnership with LUCI, a Nashville-based company whose software and hardware platform is reimagining power mobility. The program agreement between the two companies will make LUCI’s unique technology available to U.S. Rehab members nationwide, expanding access to the stability, security and connectivity LUCI offers.

President of U.S. Rehab, Greg Packer commented, “We are honored to be in a relationship with LUCI and have the ability to acquire this new top technology in the industry and make this product accessible to the independent providers and CRT providers in the U.S.” Packer continued, “LUCI is an award winning technology that we feel is going to enhance the abilities of the patient population and U.S. Rehab is very pleased to be able to provide access to this product to our membership.”

The hardware for LUCI’s technology fits onto the base of select Group 3 power chairs and creates a safer experience for riders through a patented, state-of-the-art safety system. Using a process called sensor fusion, this system combines data from cameras, ultrasonics and radar to help the wheelchair “see” its environment and provide never-before-seen safety features like collision avoidance, drop-off protection and anti-tipping alerts. The technology works with riders’ steering inputs and reaction times to create a customized, secure driving experience.

“We’re thrilled for the opportunity to partner with U.S. Rehab and to work with their respected professionals who have built such meaningful relationships with wheelchair riders and clinicians in all corners of the country,” said LUCI CEO and co-founder Barry Dean. “When we started LUCI, we dreamed of one day being able to help clinicians and riders across all 50 states. Today’s announcement is a further step toward realizing that goal for us, and we look forward to LUCI’s technology being a part of more riders gaining access to the independence, safety and connectivity.”
