The partnership will introduce LUCI to rear-wheel drive power wheelchairs for the first time

NASHVILLE, Tenn., and VAUDREUIL-DORION, Quebec – Sept. 20, 2021 – Officials with LUCI and Amylior Inc, the Canadian-based mobility company also known as Amysystems, announced a partnership today to ensure riders of Amylior brand power wheelchairs have access to LUCI’s first-of-its-kind smart technology. Designed to make wheelchairs safer and wheelchair riders more independent, LUCI is expected to be available across the United States for riders of the Amylior Alltrack R3 HWD within the next 60 days.

“Amylior has been designing and manufacturing power mobility solutions for nearly 25 years, and in that time, we have continually focused on offering a selection of products that will improve the quality of life for people who depend on mobility devices,” said Brad Peterson, Vice President of Sales, US. “We’ve never seen a product like LUCI, in terms of the capabilities, the technology and the attention to detail that’s been given toward making life in a power wheelchair safer. We believe this product signals a brighter, more independent future for many power chair drivers, and we’re excited this partnership will ensure that Alltrack R3 drivers can experience these benefits. Furthermore, working with the team at LUCI has been fantastic, and we are looking forward to this relationship yielding additional opportunities for LUCI’s smart technology to be interfaced with more Amylior power chair models.

The partnership also marks a milestone for LUCI, as the Alltrack R3 HWD will become the first LUCI-compatible hybridwheel drive power base. Hybrid-wheel drive chairs are designed to offer a blend of indoor maneuverability, with more power and the ability to handle uneven terrain outdoors, which makes them a natural fit for LUCI.

“We’re excited and proud to announce this partnership with Amylior,” said Barry Dean, LUCI co-founder and Chief Executive Officer. “Making LUCI available to more riders on more types of wheelchairs is something we’re committed to, because it’s something we’re continually asked about. We continue to hear from – and know personally – drivers of Alltrack R3 chairs who see the difference LUCI could make in their lives, and that’s why we’re so happy to be able to offer LUCI on this best-in-class hybrid-wheel drive chair. We believe this partnership will lead directly to more confidence and more freedom for a lot of people in power wheelchairs.”

Through its patented hardware and software platform, LUCI’s innovative technology provides users with collision avoidance, drop-off protection, and alerts for tipping dangers which are not currently available on power wheelchairs. This technology can make power wheelchairs a better option for new drivers as well as current drivers, allowing them to explore new environments and situations with confidence. LUCI attaches to the base of a power chair and uses sensor-fusion technology that combines data from cameras, ultrasonics, and radar into a single, 360-degree view of the world.

The companies expect to announce further details and continued collaborations in the months to come.
